A Few of the Great Drives and

Rides in the Black Hills

Iron Mountain Road

Pigtail bridges and tunnels from Custer State Park to Mount Rushmore. Fantastic!

Devils Tower Loop

This is an all-day adventure that can begin at Beulah on the WY/SD state line, or in Belle Fourche (take Hwy 34 west at the gold course), or even in Sundance. The circle is Sundance to Devils Tower on 14, to Hulett, to Aladdin on 24, and from there back to Belle Fourche or Beulah. Itユs a bit over 100 miles, so bikers will need to top up their tanks in one of the towns.

Needles Highway

Fourteen miles of ヤimpossibleユ road winds through some of the most startling geological formations in the Hills, with lots of sharp turns and low tunnels. An inexpensive daily park sticker is required (available when the road enters Custer State Park).

Peter Norbeck Scenic Driveway

A loop from Custer to Keystone, this is 68 miles of winding roads with absolutely magnificent scenery.

Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway

Starting between I-90 Exits 12 and 14 on the south frontage road, the canyon winds through 19 miles of spectacular cliffs and waterfalls (Bridal, Roughlock and Spearfish) and ends up at Cheyenne Crossing which is one of the best little restaurants in the Hills. Go left from there through Lead and Deadwood and back to Exit 17.

Vanocker Canyon Road

A beautiful canyon ride, this is one of the best quiet motorcycle roads in America, with lots of curves and awesome scenery.  Follow it to Nemo, and from there go to Rapid City on another great biking road, or take Nemo Road over to Hwy 385 and return through Deadwood.
